Adult Vaccinations
Give Us Life

When you vaccinate in later life against the diseases that threaten older adults, you prevent the worsening of any existing health conditions and add healthy years to your life. As the Asia-Pacific ages, maintaining vaccination across the life course can help keep populations healthier, more productive, and able to enjoy life for even longer. Unfortunately, not all have access to these lifesaving medicines.

What is the Asia-Pacific Consortium for Healthy Aging and Adult Immunization?

The Asia-Pacific Consortium for Healthy Aging and Adult Immunization (AP-CHAAI) mobilizes a network of public and private sector experts to overcome barriers and promote healthy aging through greater awareness and advocacy of adult vaccines.

AP-CHAAI’s virtual think tank and dashboard were created with the goal of presenting the best regional expertise and data about the important topic of adult vaccines.

What are adult vaccines?

Adult vaccines refer to immunizations specifically recommended for individuals aged 19 and older. As we age, immunity from earlier vaccines can diminish, and new health risks may arise that make adults more vulnerable to certain diseases. Adult vaccination protects individuals and communities from serious, vaccine-preventable illnesses—such as influenza, pneumonia, shingles, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and others—helping to reduce hospitalization and long-term complications.

Staying up to date with adult vaccines is an essential part of healthy aging and contributes to public health resilience, especially as new vaccines and combination immunizations are developed and made accessible.

DATA

Data Dashboard

In its initial form, the AP-CHAAI dashboard focuses on RSV, with in-depth analysis for Japan, Australia, China, and Vietnam. Each country page interprets available evidence, highlight the cost and access to vaccines, and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers. We aim to add data for additional countries in the region in the coming months.
