BIOGRAPHY

Singaporean entrepreneur Janice Chia founded Ageing Asia Pte Ltd with the mission to drive innovation in the way future generations age, by engaging the business community to create better products and services that will enable healthy ageing, independent ageing and dignified ageing.

Janice has accumulated her vast experience from visiting over 500 residential and aged care homes from over 15 countries. Since 2009, she has been actively involved in consulting organisations seeking global best practices in housing, health and care models that can be translated for the Asian market. Janice is also quoted regularly in the media, such as the BBC, on Asia Pacific business trends in ageing.

Influenced by the changing needs of her elderly relatives, and inspired by higher expectations in quality of life of the baby boomer generation, Janice firmly believes that social challenges of ageing can be transformed into economic opportunities for Asia. Her vision is to change the way we age in Asia Pacific, and move towards an ageing-at-home world where older adults age in better health, desire independence and aspire towards ageing with dignity.

In 2013, Janice started ASPIRE55, which is deemed as Asia’s first virtual retirement village, a wellbeing community that offers a combination of social, health and care services that are typically available at a real retirement village, but enables members to continue living in their existing homes.

Ageing Asia is Asia Pacific’s first industry alliance on the business of ageing. Ageing Asia seeks to unite business, government, community leaders and the media, to drive change for APAC’s ageing landscape. Ageing Asia’s vision is to lead an advocacy and educational role in improving quality and standards of eldercare, nurture partnerships and curate development of solutions that address the new opportunities and market demands of the ageing baby boomer population.

Ageing Asia is a member of raiSE, Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise. Each training programme organised by Ageing Asia allocates at least 10% of the revenue to sponsor participants in not-for-profit sectors in Singapore with free tickets and discounted rates to the programme. Ageing Asia’s charity initiative is the Art for Seniors Project that was developed to promote intergenerational bonding and interaction, and to brighten eldercare facilities through art.
